It’s time for the last post from Bangkok, another hotel review. As you probably know, we were staying at two different hotels in Bangkok. The first days we were staying at the Oriental Residence Bangkok in the embassy district. We came back from Phuket for one last day and this time, we stayed at the Amari Watergate Bangkok, not very far from the Oriental Residence Bangkok, but nevertheless in an entirely different location.
Amari Watergate Bangkok
As you can see in the pictures, the Amari Watergate Bangkok is different to the Oriental Residence Bangkok. Not only the design but also the location. But that doesn’t mean that it’s not a great hotel as well. Find the details in the following:
The Hotel
The Amari Watergate Bangkok the perfect hotel for everyone, who wants to be in the thick of things. It’s less calm, more eventful and has a lot to offer. Six restaurants and two bars, pool, a gym and much more. And if it’s getting to hectic, you can cut yourself off from all the hurly burly and calm down in the spacious, comfortable room.
The Room
We had an Executive Club King Room on the 32nd floor. When booking an executive room, you don’t have to wait in the lobby of the hotel. You check-in on the 32nd floor as well and have the chance to sit down in the Executive Lounge, what is very relaxing after a flight and a long trip into the city – it always takes more than 30 minutes by taxi. But it’s not only very relaxing and calm, but the Executive Lounge also has an amazing view. Well, it’s the 32nd floor, and you are in the heart of Bangkok.
After the check-in, we didn’t have a long way to our room, and I couldn’t wait to take a shower and relax for a couple of minutes. The room is very spacious, and the warm colours make it look very comfortable. And it doesn’t only look comfortable, it IS comfortable. The room has a King Size bed, an armchair as well as a desk to work and, of course, a bathroom. Everything you need for a city or even a business trip. The room has a window between the bathroom and the other part of the room, what is very fun. The bath tub is directly underneath this window, so if you open it you can enjoy the view of Bangkok while taking a bath 😉 Pretty nice idea!
The Pool
Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time to enjoy the pool at the Amari Watergate Bangkok. But we took some time to enjoy the view and to sit down for a minute, not inside the pool, but by the pool 😉 Doesn’t it look tempting? It has a fantastic view, and I really like the palm trees. Next to the pool was not only a pool bar but also an area with sun beds and loungers. I would have loved to spend a full day by this pool!
The Food
We did only try the breakfast, but it was excellent. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the Executive Lounge with the most amazing view over Bangkok – as I already mentioned 😉 The buffet offers everything you need, from bread, sausage and cheese to sushi and salad. I opted for an easy breakfast: bread and lots of fruits as well as coffee. Very delicious!
The Location
The Amari Watergate is located in the heart of Bangkok’s shopping district. Only one step outside the hotel you can already experience vibrant city life. It’s only a short walk to lots of shopping malls and markets, and even the Skytrain isn’t far away. So no matter what you want to do, the Amari Watergate Bangkok is the perfect starting point.
