Winter is coming closer; it’s getting colder every day, and all we want to do is laying on the sofa, watching our favourite series and drinking hot chocolate or tea. The problem: we can’t do it all day. We all have work to get done and at least my to-do list is very long a the moment. Looking at this to-do list doesn’t make anything better when you don’t know where to start. Does this sound familiar to you? Don’t worry; it’s ok to feel lazy and unmotivated from time to time. Everybody does. That’s no reason to become desperate because there are things you can do to get motivated again.
Today I want to share my top five tips about how to get motivated when you’re feeling lazy. And if you’re done reading my five tips, I would love to know what you think. And, of course, to read your tips, if you have some more!
Here’s how to get motivated when you’re feeling lazy
1. Take a break.
Sometimes it helps to take a break and move. Leave your work desk, get some fresh air and do something else for a couple of minutes. Sometimes you just need to get your blood pumping to give you more energy and motivation.
2. Write a to-do list if you haven’t done it yet.
I was talking about having a to-do list and not knowing where to start, but some people do not only
have a list. Believe me; it’s always easier to get work done when you write down everything you need to do. When you write it down, you don’t have to keep it in mind, and you can concentrate on your work.
3. Break your big tasks into smaller tasks.
Sometimes it helps a lot to break your big tasks into smaller ones because it will be less intimidating and more motivating. You can tick off the smaller tasks faster than a big one, and this will give you more senses of achievement.
4. Only focus on one thing.
Don’t try to do several things at the same time, because you won’t be able to do them properly. Focus on only ONE thing and try to get it done. If you can’t get it done, proceed with the next one, but don’t do two things or tasks at the same time.
5. Give yourself a reward!
Giving yourself a reward for every task you finish is the best motivation. Treat yourself with small things after every completed task such as a piece of chocolate, a hot bath or something like that.
