Let’s be honest: the most beautiful thing is when our skin looks so fresh and healthy in summer that we don’t even need makeup. But how do we achieve such a result? I didn’t give up and, therefore, can share the beauty trends for summer 2024 that will help you shine even without makeup.
Especially in summer: drink a lot
It’s not necessarily a trend but more of an absolute must every summer: drink a lot! It sounds basic but has a really big effect. If you don’t drink enough, not only will you feel sluggish, but your skin will show it immediately. It is often underestimated how important drinking water is for our body, including its largest organ—the skin.
The best way to start your day is with a glass of water. Lemon water is incredibly refreshing in summer, for example. Warm lemon water has many benefits for the whole body. In terms of skin, it provides a healthy glow and inhibits skin aging. Collagen production is stimulated, making the skin appear tighter. In addition, lemons have anti-inflammatory effects, are cleansing and detoxifying, and their Vitamin C is antibacterial. All these benefits are good for the entire body.
The right skincare routine
There are so many different skincare products that it’s easy to get overwhelmed. That’s why we’re delighted that the trend is returning to basics. Less is more. Especially in summer, the skin appreciates being able to breathe a little and not being overwhelmed by various products.
Basic steps like cleanser, serum, and moisturizer are usually more than enough—if you have the right products. You should definitely make sure that the ingredients in the skincare products are tailored to the needs of your skin. If you’re not sure what you need, don’t be afraid to try different products. It’s better than using the wrong skincare permanently. Once you’ve found what works best for your skin, stick with it as long as it works for you.
Of course, you can still supplement these products, but we advise keeping it simple. An eye cream will definitely not hurt, and an occasional exfoliation or mask can also work wonders. But don’t overdo it; once a week to every two weeks is completely sufficient.
Remember, in general, less is more. This applies only to the number of products and not to the quality. Use only a few but very good and high-quality skincare products for your skin.
Fragrance-free skincare products
We’ve already briefly mentioned the ingredients. What you should look for absolutely depends on your skin. However, in summer, avoiding skincare products with fragrances is generally advisable.
They smell good, but fragrances, in combination with UV radiation, can lead to pigmentation disorders on the skin. Furthermore, fragrances are an additive in many skincare products that have no effect other than smelling good. They do no good for your skin; quite the opposite: they can even stress it, in addition to other environmental factors. And stressed skin rarely looks healthy and radiant.
Instead, in summer you should opt for fragrance-free skincare products. If you want to smell good, you can use scents for clothing or hair instead.
Cold therapy and ice bath: a cooling effect not only for the skin
For several years now, much in the field of beauty has revolved around cold, whether it’s cold therapy (cryotherapy) or the latest ice bath. The colder, the better for body and mind. The benefits of cold in various applications are manifold.
At this point, we are focusing mainly on the benefits that cold provides to your skin. Cold promotes circulation and reduces swelling and redness. In general, the skin looks fresher and tighter after treatment with cold. By the way, it doesn’t always have to be cold therapy or a complete ice bath; even with ice cubes, frozen cucumbers, or chilled beauty products, you can achieve a lot.
However, cold is not suitable for everyone, so you should inform yourself beforehand.
Healthy lifestyle: exercise, adequate sleep, and a balanced diet
You can use as many skincare products and beauty hacks as you like. If you don’t focus on a healthy lifestyle, all of this will be of little use. In addition to the right products and a suitable skincare routine, exercise, sleep, and diet also play a crucial role for the skin. Daily exercise and sufficient sleep are essential for a body that feels good and skin that shines. Poor nutrition is also immediately visible on our skin, so we should consider a balanced diet. Those who generally eat healthily can treat themselves from time to time. Balance is key here.
