I am back from a month abroad. Those who follow me on Instagram already know that I spend the last month in Bali. We had planned to go for a while but didn’t know if we would actually be able to until a week before the planned departure. You can head over to my last monthly recap to read everything about this. 🙂
Quarantine in Jakarta
May began in quarantine for us. If you want to travel to Indonesia now, you can only do so with a valid business visa, and you have to spend five nights in a hotel in Jakarta to quarantine there. You are not allowed to leave the hotel room unless it is for one of the two PCR tests you have to take during quarantine.
To be honest, it wasn’t as hard as expected. My boyfriend and I took advantage of the time to catch up on some tasks that had been on our to-do list for a while, and we actually were quite productive during quarantine. The only thing I really missed was fresh air, being outside, and walking. To make sure I move at least a little bit, I started my days with a quick workout, and I even walked up and down the room sometimes – which looked quite funny, hahaha.
Back in Bali after 1.5 years
I was so happy when I got the negative test results from our PCR tests and finally could love Jakarta and continue to Bali. But to be honest, I couldn’t believe we are actually about to be on this island again until the moment we checked in at our first accommodation. It felt so unreal, but at the same time, I almost cried tears of happiness. The past year was tough for me, and I missed Bali so, so much.
We took the first week to recharge a little bit and organize ourselves. As you might know, the main reason for our travel to Bali was our online shop Onvacay. We weren’t able to order new things for over a year, which means that the shop couldn’t keep growing.
We don’t buy from big factories in Bali; we only work with locals and don’t have a team to take care of quality control, which is definitely needed before ordering big amounts of new styles. Whenever we are in Bali, we try to get a lot of inspiration, source new products, and check everything in person. That’s precisely what we did this time. After a week of taking it a bit easier and just organizing the next weeks, we drove around a lot, visited small shops, checked out the interior of different villas and restaurants for inspiration, and talked to the locals we order from to see what products they can provide and how we could add our details to them. I won’t go into details at this point, but if it’s something you are interested in, let me know, and I might write a post about it.
Onvacay Relaunch coming soon
While we were in Bali, we decided that it was time for a relaunch of Onvacay. We will slightly switch up our product portfolio and want to grow the shop even more. We don’t identify with the product portfolio we have anymore and want to source more products with a luxury touch. We also will divide the shop into two categories: fashion and interior. This also means that more fashion is coming. We are currently working on our very first clothing pieces, and I am so excited; I can’t wait for them.
Even though we spent almost a month in Bali, there’s not much more to share here. 🙂 We had a fantastic time but didn’t do much except the things I already shared. So let’s stay tuned for everything coming and enjoy the photos I am sharing with this post. xx
